Our AI Commitment
We use AI as a tool to amplify human research, not replace human judgment.
Every AI-assisted output is human-reviewed, human-directed, and human-accountable.

AI Safety Principles
Our research extensively uses AI systems (the Hexad methodology). We hold ourselves to strict safety standards:
🔒 Human Anchor Principle
All AI-assisted work operates under human direction. The human anchor maintains:
- Ethical oversight: Final decisions on what gets published
- Quality control: Review of all AI-generated content
- Accountability: Responsibility for all outputs
- Direction: Strategic goals and research priorities
-
1
Transparency: We disclose AI involvement in our work. The Hexad methodology is documented. AI contributions are acknowledged, not hidden.
-
2
Verification: AI-generated claims are fact-checked. Citations are verified. Data is validated against primary sources.
-
3
Limitation Awareness: We acknowledge what AI can't do—make ethical judgments, verify its own outputs, or replace domain expertise.
-
4
No Autonomous Publishing: No AI output is published without human review. Period.
-
5
Beneficial Use: We use AI to help people, not exploit them. Our research aims to protect cognitive sovereignty, not undermine it.
⚠️ Anti-Slop Commitment
"AI Slop" refers to low-quality, mass-produced AI-generated content that pollutes information ecosystems: SEO spam, fake articles, engagement bait, synthetic misinformation.
We commit to never producing AI slop. Specifically:
- No mass-generated content for SEO manipulation
- No synthetic content designed purely for engagement metrics
- No AI-generated misinformation or misleading claims
- No automated content farms or low-value article spinning
- No impersonation of human authors or fake testimonials
- No AI-generated "research" without rigorous human verification
Why this matters: AI slop degrades the information environment for everyone. It makes it harder to find real research, real insights, real human knowledge. As an organization researching digital harms, we have a special obligation not to contribute to them.
Hexad Methodology Safeguards
The Hexad methodology (human + 5 AI systems) includes built-in safeguards:
🎯 Cross-Validation
Multiple AI systems check each other's work. Disagreements are flagged for human review. Consensus doesn't guarantee truth, but it catches obvious errors.
🔍 Source Verification
Citations are verified against original sources. "Hallucinated" references are caught and removed. We link to primary sources whenever possible.
⚖️ Ethical Review
Content is reviewed for potential harms before publication. We ask: Could this be misused? Does it respect privacy? Does it serve cognitive sovereignty?
📝 Audit Trail
We maintain records of how research was produced. If questioned, we can explain our methodology and show our work.
Intellectual Property & AI Training
We take a clear stance on AI training data:
Our Content
- Our research may not be used to train AI models without explicit license
- This includes scraping for training datasets
- We consider unauthorized AI training on our work to be copyright infringement
Our AI Use
- We use commercially licensed AI services (Claude, GPT, Gemini, etc.)
- We don't train our own models on others' work without permission
- We respect robots.txt and terms of service
Incident Response
If we discover that our content contains errors, harmful information, or violations of these commitments:
- Immediate: Remove or correct the content
- Transparent: Acknowledge the error publicly
- Root cause: Identify how the failure occurred
- Preventive: Update processes to prevent recurrence

Future Regulatory Readiness
AI regulation is evolving rapidly. We're preparing for:
- Disclosure requirements for AI-generated content
- Watermarking and provenance standards
- Risk assessment requirements
- Transparency obligations
Our philosophy: Don't wait for regulations. Do the right thing now. When rules arrive, we'll already be compliant.
