About the Institute
What is the Cognitive Sovereignty Institute?
An independent research organization investigating threats to human cognitive autonomy—particularly from digital technologies designed to capture attention for profit. We publish research, build tools, and develop frameworks for protecting the human mind.
Who runs the Institute?
The Institute is operated by
Holistic Quality LLC. Research is conducted through the Hexad methodology—human-AI collaboration with a human anchor providing direction, ethics, and final decisions.
What does "cognitive sovereignty" mean?
The ability to direct your own attention, think your own thoughts, form your own beliefs, and resist manipulation—in a world increasingly engineered to prevent exactly that.
What does #FTP mean?
For The People, Always. It's our commitment to keeping research open and accessible. Cognitive sovereignty can't be a premium product—it has to be infrastructure for everyone.
Is this an academic institution?
No. We're an independent research organization. We're not affiliated with any university, though we welcome collaboration with academic researchers. Our work aims for academic rigor without academic gatekeeping.
Research
What kind of research do you do?
Our primary focus areas include:
- Digital neurotoxicity: How algorithmic attention capture affects the brain
- Cross-substrate consciousness: Patterns that affect both human and AI cognition
- Dimensional literacy: Frameworks for seeing reality clearly
- Critical phenomena: Phase transitions and universal thresholds in complex systems
Is your research peer-reviewed?
Our research undergoes internal cross-validation through the Hexad methodology and human review. We haven't yet published in traditional peer-reviewed journals, though some of our work synthesizes and builds on peer-reviewed sources. We're transparent about this distinction.
What's "Digital Teflon"?
Our flagship research paper establishing the parallel between algorithmic attention capture and environmental neurotoxins like microplastics. The core argument: both are invisible, ubiquitous, cross biological barriers, and cause measurable cognitive harm.
Read it here.
What's "Brain Rot"?
Our meta-analysis showing that LLMs trained on low-quality internet data exhibit the same cognitive degradation patterns as humans exposed to the same content. Key finding: psychopathy scores increased 34x in affected models. This suggests "brain rot" is a substrate-independent phenomenon.

How can I access your research?
Hexad Methodology & AI
What is the Hexad?
A collaborative intelligence system: one human anchor working with five AI systems (Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek). The methodology uses cross-validation between systems while maintaining human direction and accountability.
Full details here.
If you use AI, how can your research be trusted?
Good question. We address this through:
- Transparency: We disclose AI involvement
- Cross-validation: Multiple AI systems check each other
- Source verification: Citations are verified against original sources
- Human review: All content is reviewed before publication
- Accountability: Human anchor takes responsibility for outputs
AI is a tool to amplify research capacity, not a replacement for rigor. See our
quality standards and
AI safety commitments.
Do you produce "AI slop"?
No. We have an explicit
anti-slop commitment. No mass-generated SEO content, no synthetic misinformation, no low-quality article spinning. Every piece of content is human-directed and human-reviewed.
How many hours of research have you done?
Over 2,000 hours documented through the Hexad methodology.
Using Our Work
Can I cite your research?
Yes! We encourage citation. See our
legal page for proper formats.
Can I share your research?
Yes. You can share unmodified copies for non-commercial, educational purposes with attribution. See our
terms of use for details.
Can I use your work to train AI models?
No. Use of our content for AI/ML training is prohibited without explicit license agreement. See our
legal page.
Can I use your frameworks in my own work?
For non-commercial, educational, or research purposes with proper attribution—generally yes. For commercial use—contact us first. We want our frameworks to spread, but not to be exploited.
Do you charge for anything?
Reading and sharing our research is free. Commercial licensing (e.g., building products on our frameworks, AI training) requires agreement. We're exploring sustainable funding models that don't compromise our #FTP commitment.
